Meteor Hamburgers: Richardson, Texas
This trip to Meteor Hamburgers was one of my most anticipated restaurant reviews so far. I have been wanting to visit for so long; however, I was not under the impression that they served a veggie gardenburger. Once the owner, Scott Belshe, informed me that they did in fact have a veggie gardenburger; I knew I had to go! Below, is my review.
First of all, when you pull up to the location 1608 E Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75081 there is an ambiance that just makes you want to smile. The front of the restaurant is clean and very well-kept. When you walk up to the front you see this adorable rock garden where people have painted and individualized rocks. There is another rock garden next to the door as you enter, with the same thing. Each rock is individualized to its creator and it looks phenomenal. They are painted and some are even signed. Some of the motivational sayings on them are great! I wanted to just stand there and read all of the rocks!
As soon as you walk in you can hear the music that is upbeat and it is brightly painted. However, that is not even what got my attention. What got my attention was the smell! It smelled so good. Anyone that knows me, knows I don't eat meat. But this was a burger joint that did not smell like meat. It actually smelled like seasoning. It smelled spectacular. This gave me an inclination that my food was going to taste spectacular as well. There were brightly painted walls and brightly painted signs everywhere to keep your eyes occupied. Everywhere we look there was something for us to read and smile at.
My husband and I both went together. I do not eat meat, he does. So this review is going to have a combination of both. Below is what we ordered.
Him: Hangover burger (half pound all beef patty, a fried egg, bacon, ham, hash brown patties, American cheese, and sauce)
Me: Veggie Gardenburger (lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and cheese)
Sides: corn nuggets, mozzarella sticks, onion rings
Now, here is where we get to the nitty-gritty. First of all, my husband had to take one of the patties off of his burger because it was just entirely too much food for him. He said it was fantastic! He just could not eat it all. He said it was wonderfully seasoned and it was not too salty nor too greasy. I was definitely able to eat all of mine and it was spectacular! I actually stopped halfway through my meal so that I could go speak to Scott and let him know how this burger was significantly different than other restaurants I have eaten at. They did not try to mask the taste of a veggie burger by over-seasoning it. My burger tasted like vegetables because it was. It was not meat and I did not expect it nor did I want it to taste like meat. This was one thing that I love about Meteor Hamburgers.
We both snacked on corn nuggets, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. There was nothing negative to say about anything that we had. Everything was hot, and fresh, and tasted wonderful. I am sure that everyone can tell when you eat at a place that does not have "clean grease". This taste was nowhere to be found in our food. Everything was fresh and tasted wonderful.
The entire time that I and my husband were eating; I was trying to think of something that I could give as a recommendation moving forward. Something that I could tell Scott to change in order to make his food better for other people. In all honesty, I couldn't think of anything. This was by far the best Veggie Gardenburger I have had in years.
For anyone considering trying the food here; no reason to consider it any longer. Just go do it. You will not be disappointed.
Until Next Time!
Kristina
